Monthly Meetup Location Moved

The Blue 7th PAC monthly Meetup will be at the Vermuele Mansion in North Plainfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14th. 7th Congressional District candidate Linda Stender will be our guest. This will be a more intimate opportunity to talk with Stender and learn more about her campaign.

The Vermuele Mansion is at the corner of Clinton Ave and Greenbrook Road.
You can RSVP for this event at MeetUp.com .

For this event we are asking folks if they can bring some soda, wine, cookies, snacks, etc. for everyone to munch on. Please don't go crazy, but if most of us bring a little something we should be in good shape.

Tide Is Turning Nationally

Newsweek has good news for organizations like Blue 7th PAC which are trying to defeat an incumbent Republican:

Coming on the heels of Democratic wins in closely watched gubernatorial races in (Blue) New Jersey and (Red) Virgina this week, all of this has got to worry Republican leaders contemplating next year’s elections. When NEWSWEEK asked registered voters whether they planned to vote for a Democrat or a Republican in those elections, 53 percent said a Democrat and 36 percent said a Republican. It’s a long way from now to next year’s Congressional contests. But no one knows better than the president how much things can change in a year.

Indigo Girls Concert FundraiserIt means that the mood of the country is definitely leaning toward the Democratic Party and gainst Republican incumbents. The country is seeing the failures of Republican leadership and are ready to move another way.

But New Jersey's 7th district still leans Republican, and the national mood may not translate here. We have to make sure it does. We need to be ready to take advantage of that, working together to raise the money, organize the volunteers, push the messages and beat the streets.

You can help by joining us for the Indigo Girls concert on February 8th for a fundraiser at the McCarter Theater in Princeton. Tickets are just $100 for the concert and $150 if you want to come to a cocktail party before with a special guest! Order tickets online or mail in the form today.

Sponsorships are available, as well. $500 for the Host Committee (2 tickets to Party & Concert), $1000 for Patrons (4 tickets to Party & Concert), $2500 for Sponsors (6 tickets to Party & Concert) and $5000 for Honored Guests (10 tickets to Party & Concert). You can pay for a sponsorship online or mail in the form, as well.

Jon Corzine In the 7th District Today

Today at the Somerset County 4H Fair Senator Jon Corzine will be at the Somerset County Democrats tent (near the food tent) at 5:15 p.m. (August 18, 2005) and be walking the fair until a little after 6 p.m.  Everyone is invited to come out and meet our next Governor -- and be sure to wear your Dump Mike pins!

Speaking of Dump Mike pins, a commenter on the Dump Mike site named Kathy tells me that she saw someone on 20/20 being interviewed at a museum.  That is very cool!  If you were wearing your pin and got interviewed by 20/20 please drop me a line.

Last, as you know we have two fundraisers coming up.  The picnic is $15 and the ballpark event is $100 (with sponsorships at $500, $1000 and $2500).  Please puchase tickets online or RSVP if you are coming to these events to picnic@blue7th.com .  There are only 100 tickets available to the ballpark event and you get food, fun and friendship -- plus a ballgame!

National News and Local Events

Excellent news on the publicity front this week.  Blue 7th PAC and Dump Mike Ferguson got national recognition over the past week for our strategy to win NJ7 next year.

First, we were highlighted in a national report issued by the New Politics Institute on the use of the blogosphere and the Internet for political organizing.

Then, yesterday, we were highlighted in the National Journal's Beltway Blogroll column.  That got us on the front of Daily Kos , the widest read blog in America.

We're getting noticed!  And that means we have even more work to do.

This Saturday we have a picnic/fundraiser at Deer Path Park in Hunterdon County.   Former Mayor Joe Tricarico, who is investigating a run for Congress, and 2006 Assembly candidate Janice Kovach will be there.  Assemblywoman Linda Stender came to our picnic on the 6th in Union County.  Please come out and have some fun with like-minded folks.  Tickets are just $15 a head and can be purchased online or at the picnic itself.  Directions will be online.

We also have a major fundraiser at the Commerce Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater on August 29th .  Tickets are $100 a piece and you get a ticket to the game, entertainment on the Executive Party Deck and a buffet dinner with a cash bar.  Please help us sell tickets using our pdf flier -- the money we raise goes towards our work winning the 7th district!  We need volunteers to make phone calls to people we have invited and remind them to purchase tickets.

More opportunitites exist to sponsor the ballpark event .  For $500 people can join the host committee, for $1000 people can be an Event Patron, and for $2500 people can be an Event Sponsor.  These can also be purchased online, or by mailing in the online flier .

Ferguson Social Security Meetings On!

From NJ Citizen Action:

It looks like Ferguson's office staff deserves to be complimented for playing dumb over the phone all week long only to announce a town hall meeting with 24 hours notice. Ferguson's office has just announced that SATURDAY'S MEETINGS ARE ON for Saturday and we are moving quickly to try to get some turnout for this event. We are calling on all available people to come out to at least one of these meetings tomorrow to tell Ferguson to Keep the Promise of Social Security. Ferguson's staff held off on announcing the meeting until the last minute to minimize turnout from the opposition- Don't let him get away with it! Here are the details for both meetings: 10 a.m. at the Bernardsville Public Library on 1 Anderson Hill Road in Bernardsville.

1 p.m. at the Flemington Borough Hall on 38 Park Ave. in Flemington.

If you plan to attend or have any questions, please respond to this email or call Mike Olender at 723-246-4772 x13.

Thanks and we'll see you on Saturday!
